Hi,
Quite busy at the moment with tiny genet kittens that need feeding every 2 hours. The little fox cub is feeding well on her own and is very playful and we have the most delightful little duiker female. Breeding season is well under way and the little owls are fledging. This is the time they start getting into trouble! Last week we had 11 calls to rescue young owls and am happy to say that in all except one case we were able to reunite the youngsters with their parents. In three cases we put up boxes in safer places close to the original nest site (barn owls)  and moved the chicks into them. For the rest after checking the owls were healthy we explained how it was normal for young spotted eagle owls to be on the ground even if they could not fly and that they were not 'lost' and the parents had not deserted them. We asked people just to keep an eye on the youngsters through the day and to watch the parents return in the evening. Several people phoned to let us know how excited they were to see the parents return to feed their young in the evening!
