I am not getting out much birding at the moment due to studying for exams, but popped quickly past Bokkomlaan this afternoon and it being such a beautiful winter's day, photography was a pleasure!

Can clearly see how less human activity on the water, due to it being winter, has all the birds back on the shores!

Grey Heron

and this dude seemed rather chuffed with his zooty hairdo!

and look at all the Great White Pelican back on Bokkomlaan cool

and this was the first time I have seen a Three-banded Plover on Bokkomlaan cool have seen them in Velddrif before, but not at this spot!

and of course the ever present Black-winged Stilt...I would actually love to know what the population of this species is in Velddrif, must be impressive!

I was hoping the flamingos would be at the hide area again today so I could take a pic of how many there are, but they had moved into another pan, could just see a huge, pink patch wink

oops almost forgot a pic of the real show stealers, Great White Pelican.

Also saw masses of Egyptian Geese and many Spur-winged Geese in the farm dams that have formed after the rains....never before seen such numbers of Egyptian Geese, I must say, think they have "discovered" the Weskus!

Awesome photos of a great drive!

To give a slight perspective - "busy" on Bokkomlaan means 3 cars driving past us at 10kmh in a fifteen minute period with 1 couple walking their pooch - that's the Weskus :-)
