We found the Short Clawed Lark at its usual spot near Ultra City, Pietersburg when we passed through the area in June.

DD,

the shelves in the kitchen where all the pots are on (to the right as you come in the door) should have a container with seeds that Mark keeps filled up.

Fortunately I cleared the area of throw-able stones, knowing you might go tongue

Re: Magoebaskloof - Requesting Info

DD,

I was at Kurisa on 10 August and to me the Woodbush forest drive is in bad condition. There were lots of 'potholes' and some stone/rocks in the road that had to be avoided. The best would be to go very slow with baby on board.

You should find:
Short Clawed Lark - Mamabolo grasslands; ask David where exactly
African Goshawk - early morning in the vicinity of the Kurisa house
Cape Parrots - very early in Woodbush forest
Green Twinspot - difficult to see; only heard them in the area around the feeder in the Kurisa forest
White Starred Robin-Chat - in the forest at Kurisa
Red-Backed Mannikins - the feeder at the Kurisa house

Enjoy.

Jip, I agree, the road through the forest was a shocker when we drove through there in July. One must remember that this road took a beating second to none over the recent few years due to the construction works on the main R71 route.

Re: Magoebaskloof - Requesting Info

Thanks guys, will have to wait and see what the conditions are like :

Got this from Mark two weeks ago, so really don't know lol

Re: Magoebaskloof - Requesting Info

The Woodbush shortcut is the road I am referring to. However from where you will be staying up to the Woodbush drive section, you won't have to experience the worst of that road. But up from the Woodbush drive section towards Kurisa Moyo I'd advise you to take your false dentures out and strap everything else down. That part is really bad!

You of course also have the alternative route of driving up form the Debengeni falls side which should be the best option IMO.

Re: Magoebaskloof - Requesting Info

lol @ Dentures.. I aint that old yet

Ja I will be skipping that road up to Kurisa Moya completely as we will really not be going to that section. My idea was to drive from Debengeni falls side.

Maybe the bumpy road will be good for Megan.. bump all those klak winds and cramps out of her lol
