AnnouncementOur Mission and Values at GBT...
Here at GBT we hope to foster an interest in all things birding, and in so doing, also create a deep and abiding respect for our natural environment. We do so without taking ourselves too serioulsy, but we do take the state of our environment very seriously. We share our knowledge and our passion for all things birding willingly and enthusiastically.

Re: Laat Ek Se Goei!Admire your way of thinking Bats, but I think you are going to miss a couple of lifers on your list because of not getting a guide like David.. Re: Laat Ek Se Goei!I couldn't agree more WTM, those Barratts are extremely secretive. I saw my first ever on the outskirts of Wakkerstroom, and it was a fairly decent view of one. Since then I have seen a foot here and a toe there and that is about it. Re: Laat Ek Se Goei!Batty, that is where guides come in handy. They always know of the latest hotspots. Forest birding for me personally is the hardest type of birding one can do. Patience is a massive skill! I sometimes just sit still in some spot and wait for the birds to get used to my presence and then start singing or showing themselves. And then of course great is my excitement when I hit a birding party! Laine and Dirk's Bird Photos - created with Bird Photo Organizer - v3.0! Re: Laat Ek Se Goei!Batty, the dirt road running down through the forest to the Debegeni Falls is a good place to find these birds. they are often heard in the thickets right next to the road, and I have found that they are more common in places where there are streams that flow close by. The best would probably be - as WTM has mentioned, to stay put next to a bush and be patient. Re: Laat Ek Se Goei!At Moegabas? Well if you are able to do the woodbush forest drive then I am sure you have a good chance of spotting the Grey Cuckooshrike, Very good chance of Sqaure Tailed Drongo and Yellowstreaked Greenbul. I have also seen the Black Fronted Bush-Shrike here before as well as Drakensberg Prinia and you also have a chance of the Yellow Throated Woodland-Warbler.
