ID needed

Hi All !

Not really a mytstery bird. But most of the times I am lost to ID the small birdies. roll
We saw this little guy on the S 100 close to Satara in May this year.
Am I right that it is a Canary ?! But which one ?

Sorry I am at work neutral and therefore not able to reduce the size to fit the permitted requirements, so have a look here for the little feathered friend.

Re: ID needed

It is a PinTAIL... No, I'm joking... Hehe lol

Honestly I can't give you a straight answer. You will have to wait for someone else I'm afraid... Here is what I can say though:

The blue bill points to:
Maccoa Duck,
(Maybe) a Knobbilled Duck Imm.
Hottentot Teal.

Area elminates Maccoa Duck so I will go with a Hottentot Teal Immature. roll

I get logged out if I haven't been active for a while so I log in at the Home page. This does open a new window for me as well... I don't know if there is a easier way?

Re: ID needed

the log in is on the home page yes, but I think it can be moved to all pages will see if I can change that wink and yes a new window opens each time, this makes my life easier when I am working between front and back end and different topics wink...so can we leave that as is to make me happy CC and Candy..pleeease LOL!

and the bird: hmmmz this is a good one CC cool

those long legs and the colouring, especially the dark eye stripe, make me think it's an imm. Comb Duck (Knobbilled)...oddly enough other than the Newman's no other field guide shows the imm.... very odd hmm

No problem Jay smile

I must admit I'm also leaning towards the Knobbilled Duck Imm. Have a look at the duck at the back:

Re: ID needed

wow CC.. this bird has really got me thinking...

if i were to hazard a guess i would say an imm female Southern Pochard, due to the white crescents that have begun forming on the side of the head.. but before i give a concrete answer i will take a much closer look.. hmm

Re: ID needed
