W™, Laine and the Girls in Kruger - July 2012

In 37 days' time we will be driving through Phalaborwa gate enroute to Mopani for 4 nights and then follow that up with 2 at Shingwedzi, 1 at Letaba, 1 at Lower Sabie and our last night at Tamboti.

Lifers will not be around in great numbers. But there will be a few I will target:

Rufous-winged Cisticola (for Laine and kruger lifer for me)
African Barred Owlet(for Laine)
Arnot's Chat (for Laine)
Crestd Guineafowl (for Laine)
Kurrichane Buttonquail (for Laine)
White-breasted Cuckooshrike
Mottled Spinetail
Bohm's Spinetail
African Yellow White-eye (for my SA list and lifer for Laine)
And that darn Stierling's Wren-Warbler!!

Some other lifers which may present themselves (Thanks Imax!) are:
Ayre's Hawk-Eagle
Dickinson's Kestrel
Senegal Coucal
Three-banded Courser
Southern Hyliota
Orange-winged Pytilia
Racket-tailed Roller
Miombo Blue-eared Starling
Collared Palm-Thrush

Then I also have my eyes on the Rufous-winged Cisticola(lifer for Laine) and Temminck's Courser for Kruger lifers.

Photo lifers are always welcome as I near my 600 mark.

Harlequin Buttonquail
Barn Owl
Fiery-necked Nightjar (for Laine)
Rufous-cheeked Nightjar (might not be present at the time of year)
Freckled Nightjar
Eastern Nicator
Taita Falcon

We can compare successfull tips in Mopanie, by then i would be almost finished with our trip and you are starting yours. Just buy some superglue for me and i will secure the ones on the second list for you. big_smile

WTM, will you be travelling up to Punda from Shingwedzi?

With what?

Shingwedzi to Pafuri gate is 2:30. It is a mere 4 hour up and down drive with enough time in between for lekka birding in Pafuri. Woo-ha!!!! big_smilebig_smile
