Re: Theme of The Week

eish I see this virtually on a daily basis, and still I can't get used to it; you know I have never actually seen a live weasel? hmm
FYI, RJ, the day they did frog dissections at school, I was given the class off, yeah I am quite inclined to faint rolltongue

Re: Theme of The Week

It is a sad site...I have seen a number of lifers dead on the road! This was the first Zorilla (Striped Polecat) I had come across. I have since had a few more DOR sightings, but have been lucky enough to see these guys now 6 times in the wild, very much alive smile I too Jay, am yet to see a Striped Weasel....but those I hear are extremely hard to find...but the Western Cape seems to be the best place to try!

Re: Theme of The Week

ah yes I see it's a polecat not a weasel, didn't really take a close look for obvious reasons neutral..dunno if all the roadkill here is one or the other, and to be honest, am just not going to look closely enough to say, you going to  have to come check for yourself one day RJ, LOL! The road between here and Velddrif, here and Vredenburg and Velddrif and Hopefield is roadkill central hmm..admittedly I remember Marius Burger saying at least roadkill is an indication of still fairly healthy populations of that species hmm

RJ, I remember at school we disected rats and some guys were running around with rat body parts sticking out of pockets etc. I can imagine you would have done something similar!
Great photos Jay and BK!
