Re: What did you see today? (5)

There was a commotion outside earlier, lots of alarm calls from the Bulbuls, Robin-Chat, and Go Away birds, I went outside to see what was going on, and found a Little Sparrowhawk sunning itself on the top of my fever tree big_smilebig_smile

Very nice BK big_smilebig_smile I have not seen one of those in ages.

Re: What did you see today? (5)

Haven't seen one of those in forever! Lovely sighting, Trev!

Laine and I worked our gatte off this morning. So we decided to treat ourselves and went out and photographed 3 African Grass-Owl chicks! It was amazing! The cutest little things you can wish to see. They are so fluffyyyyyyyyy!!!

Being the precious goods they are, I will not make their location public. But feel free to contact me via PM if you want more details.

Photos to follow!

Re: What did you see today? (5)

Ramkat and I went to WSBG this morning, and while I was walking along the river track that leads from the broken bridge towards the waterfall, I could have sworn that I heard a Camaroptera calling. You know how irritating their chuckchuckchuckchuck can be..... I'm not sure what else could be calling like that, it wasn't the Bar-Throated Apalis, which I saw and heard. This call was a repeated chuckchuck. I didn't manage to see the bird, so if anybody is going to WSBG in the next week or so, please listen along the river track, maybe somebody else will hear it too. It's out of range, and not on the birdlist. I won't add it to my SABAP list, because I didn't see it, but it's now bugging me. Or if anybody has a suggestion that will also help. We saw the Fairy, Ramkat did some impressive push-ups with his camera, I'm not sure whether he managed any decent shots, because the little thing doesn't sit still for a second. Nothing out of the ordinary otherwise.

Re: What did you see today? (5)

aw, Laine, WTM, what gorgeous sighting ans shots! You lucky things!

We went on a quick outing to one of the local beaches earlier and a group of cormorants were sitting on the rocks; the bright light and distance had me taking it for granted they were Cape, but on closer inspection, they turned out to be a group of immature Crowned Cormorants. Nice sighting as we don't see them all that often and they are usually even further out on the rocks.

Re: What did you see today? (5)

As BK mentioned we did the WSBG Breakfast run today - Aloes are showing but flowers are not open yet, DC sunbirds are trying out the base flowers.

My Canon push ups paid off I got the best (only?) photo I have of a FFC.
