Re: First Yellow-billed Kite of the seasonHi Marcell, it is recorded that the average arrival for Yellow-billed Kite in Skukuza is the 11th of August. The earliest arrival recorded was August 1, 1986. It then usually leaves again in March. The oldest recorded individual was 23 years old. It is a pick-pocket of note robbing other birds of their food. It is told by africans that the Yellow-billed Kite would steal from a pot carried on the women's heads without them noticing. So true Laine - just makes birding here even more interesting. One does learn to question things though which we would take for granted elsewhere.
