I read that Lesser Kestrels are back in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. I will keep an eye out for them in the eastern reaches of PTA.

Re: Returning Migrants

From previous year's record I remember that Yellow-billed Kite and Diederick Cuckoo should start arriving any moment now!

Klaas' Cuckoo have been heard in the Cape Town area already.

Keep your eyes and ears on the ready!

My uncle said he heard a Klaas' Cuckoo calling in Marloth Park on the 26th of June.

Re: Returning Migrants

just from the northern hemisphere - the Swifts (European Swifts) have diminished form 10-20 in the evenings to only 2 today and Swallows are also leaving at a phenomenal rate it seems as well their cousins the House Martins; all this after a lot of aggregations (or what I thought were anyway) the weekend and suddenly the numbers of migrants dropped within a day or 2.

Re: Returning Migrants

It is still just an absolute miracle to me that they can fly those distances, it honestly defies logic!
