Re: Easter Photo ChallengeMy wife and I are heading off on Monday to camp over at Magungubwe National Park - so hopefully one of the 40 or more birds that I am hoping to see (which will be Lifers) will make the cut for this competition! Hopefully Pels' Fishing-Owl will hear about the competition and pose for me! Can't wait! Unfortunately any birds we see on Tuesday won't count - so we'll have to have a good day on Monday! Sadly I am leaving behind my "new" Canon EOS 50D as I still need to find a lens for it - but it is time for the old Olympus that has served me well for 5 years to shine!!! Re: Easter Photo ChallengeThe weather is so bad, that I am thinking I can win this competition with this pic of a Speckled Pigeon (very rare in some parts of the world). Notice how create the pic is with the out of focus foreground - the late afternoon light (not common in Joburg these days) highlighting the speckles on the back of the bird. Great composition, incredible fortune with the light - this could win it!! Oh, and great news! The Easter Bunny brought me a 73-300 Canon Lens for my 50D - there must be a recession in Bunny land as the lens is very much entry level - but at least I can let going with the new camera at Mapungubwe on Monday! My wife will be using the Olympus to capture the scenery - an upgrade for her too!!! The Pigeon pic was my first even photo with a Canon - and on Aperture Priority nogal (something I have never been able to get right with my Olympus setup)!
