Re: Theme of The Week

Hey great! I enjoy Storks. BK that shot of the Black Storks looks like it was in the Kruger? Sabie low level bridge or the Biyamiti weir? Nice to have a group of them together like that!

Re: Theme of The Week

Thanks Jay, and yes, SR, it was at Biyamiti weir. They were not the only ones, there were 4 more in the water just below the weir, catching small fry, together with hamerkop, about 8, lots of Pied Kingfishers, 2 Giant King's and Little Egrets. It was a great day there with my sister who was visiting from New Zealand.

Re: Theme of The Week

Great photos!

BK that Biyamiti Weir is one of my favourite spots in the Kruger. There is always something happening there. I have had great lion and leopard sightings there in the past.

Re: Theme of The Week

Great photo, WTM, make sure you get some more this weekend!
SR, the last 2 times we went there, we saw zilch! It's probably because all the storks etc ate all the fish there smile
I must say that when we were there it was after good rains, and the weir was overflowing. Now with the road damaged it's just a schlep to go there from places like Skukuza or LSabie, but hopefully the weir will be repaired in the near future.

Agreed. I think it is a lot more productive during the dry season. The park really seems to be dragging their feet with doing repairs this time around. I was surprised to see the detour between Olifants and Letaba was still in place when I was there in June.
